Medisorb A Calcium alginate dressing

Medisorb A is a sterile, soft, and highly absorbent dressing made from 100% calcium alginate fibres.

Effect

Properties of calcium alginate dressing:
– calcium alginate fibres, which the dressing is made from, react with wound exudate
to form a soft, moist gel, which maintains a moist wound healing environment
– the moist gel does not stick to the wound, reducing the risk of injury during dressing
change
– for deep wounds, the dressing can easily adapt to the shape of the wound
– calcium alginate fibres release calcium into the wound, which helps to stop minor
bleeding
– the integrity of the wet dressing allows it to be removed in one piece during
dressing change

Indications

Medisorb A is intended for the treatment of superficial or deep wounds with
moderate to heavy exudate, such as pressure sores, leg ulcers, cavitary wounds, and
skin graft sites.
The dressing can stay in place for up to 7 days, depending on the patient's condition
and the amount of exudate.

Directions for use

Clean and disinfect the wound before applying the dressing. It requires secondary dressing protection.

Contraindications

Contraindications: Do not use for surgical implants, third-degree burns, or dry
necrotic wounds.
